Once the results for the Seven Wonders of the World came out and Jordan's Petra was included, celebration broke out in Amman's streets. It really showed what Jordanians were capable of. The voting was done by sending text messaging or voting online. Jordan's petra was second for the number of votes casted. Awarness of Petra and Jordan will be increased because of this milestone. I expect the demand of real estate to increase with this vote.
You may wonder why, I realized that Jordan's tourism and visitation from expatriates are on the rise. Jordan is expecting over 10 Million visitors by 2010. As more and more people visit Jordan and see the growth potential. More will invest in the country. The same companies that helped dubai expereince their growth are the same companies that are in Jordan.
Many people are feeling that the growth has to slow down and are comparing the jump in prices to the U.S. when in fact it is very different. The rise in prices in Jordan is not just based on speculation. There is a demand for office space, residential units and soon to be a demand for luxury apartments in towers.
In addition to the towers in the new downtown amman in the abdali project. The Greater Amman Municipility also known as GAM have planned for a dozen towers stragically placed in differernt areas of Amman. The local governements is also taken many actions to clean up the city and image of Amman. Signage and billboards on buildings is no longer permited. Many green parks are scheduled to be built. Each year Amman will advance in many areas. There is still things they need to work on but they are making great advances, which will help every investor in the country.
In my next blog, I will discuss what's wrong with Jordan and what the country can do to make those changes.
